powershell.exe -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command 'iwr -useb https://bimcli.com/install.ps1 -OutFile $env:TEMP\bim-install.ps1; powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File $env:TEMP\bim-install.ps1'
Give your assistant a reviewed drawing PDF. It can read the annotations as data, help organize the comments, and write your approved response back into the file.
Copy this prompt into your AI coding tool, then give it the PDF you want to review. Check its summary and proposed replies before asking it to write anything into the file.
Help me review the markups in this PDF drawing set. Keep the original unchanged.Step 1 - install bim-cli if it is not already installed: powershell.exe -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command 'iwr -useb https://bimcli.com/install.ps1 -OutFile $env:TEMP\bim-install.ps1; powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File $env:TEMP\bim-install.ps1'
Step 2 - refresh PATH: pwsh: $env:Path += ";$env:LOCALAPPDATA\bim-cli"
Step 3 - read the PDF annotations: bim pdf annot.list drawings.pdf
Summarize the markups by page, author, and comment. Flag unclear or conflicting items and suggest replies, but do not decide or mark an item complete for me.
After I approve the review, prepare review.json with the agreed markups and replies, then write it to a new PDF: bim pdf annot.review drawings.pdf --review review.json --out reviewed-drawings.pdf
Read the output with bim pdf annot.list and report the annotations and replies that were written. Keep the input PDF unchanged.
annot.list returns the annotations in a PDF as JSON, including their page, type, comment, author, subject, and date when those values are present. That gives an assistant structured text to summarize or group without asking you to copy comments one by one.
bim pdf annot.list drawings.pdf
This sample began with no annotations, so the first read returned:
[]
After writing a sample review, annot.list returned the captured annotations below:
[{"page":1,"type":"Square","rect":[96,288,304,416],"contents":"Confirm this dimension against the plan.","author":"AI assistant","subject":"Review note","date":"2026-10-31T12:00:00Z"},{"page":1,"type":"Text","rect":[304,396,324,416],"contents":"Checked against the adjacent callout.","author":"AI assistant","date":"2026-10-31T12:01:00Z","customFields":{"IRT":"12 0 R","Name":"Comment","Open":"false","State":"Completed","StateModel":"Review"}}]
The second annotation is a reply in the review thread, and its review state is available in customFields. Ask your assistant to show you the comments and any proposed actions before it changes the PDF.
When you approve a response, annot.review writes the review as PDF annotations and saves a new output file. The input PDF remains available as it was. A review JSON file can include markups and replies; the verb help describes the accepted fields.
bim pdf annot.review drawings.pdf --review review.json --out reviewed-drawings.pdf
For the sample review, the captured command result was:
{"out":"reviewed-drawings.pdf","annotations":1,"replies":1,"states":1,"attachments":[],"skipped":[]}
The driver writes standard PDF annotations. Adobe documents markups and comments in Acrobat, and Bluebeam documents viewing and managing PDF markups in Revu (Acrobat, Bluebeam Revu).

powershell.exe -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -Command 'iwr -useb https://bimcli.com/install.ps1 -OutFile $env:TEMP\bim-install.ps1; powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File $env:TEMP\bim-install.ps1'
Then ask your assistant to run bim describe --json. See what the installer does.
